A place to hide

I hear your voice ringing in my ear
I hear your footsteps coming down to hall like thunder
I quietly open the door and slip in hoping you don't hear me
I peek out and see you standing there
I shudder in fear at the look on your face
I know one of these days I'm going to run
I hear you call my name
I don't come out
I see you turn and leave
I hear the distance echo of your footsteps getting farther and farther
I wait until you fall asleep
I come out and wait a second
I hear a voice as clear as a bell "Run child run he won't hurt you any more"
I stand up take a deep breath
I open the door and I ran as far and as fast as I could
I never looked back

Because of that voice I am still here and no longer scared

In like a lion out like a lamb

I'd say lamb but either way it's March. So that only means three things: parties, holidays and crazy family gatherings "oh so fun." I'm still counting down the days until the big day - as of now it's day 17 and still going. I'm not sure yet but I'm still leaning on my boss to give me the day off. I'd be so happy for that. I'd be even happier if I was sitting on an island with a cold drink in my hand and the palm trees swaying in the background. Eventually I'll come to my senses and notice I'm still here in this cold weather trying not to stick my tongue to the pole even though it's tempting to try.

I Remember

I remember when I was a kid the world was not such a scary place. It was safe place where we could run wild and free. That was until you heard your name being called and you had to go home for dinner. Then you rush back out until the street lights came on and you heard your name again. Your neighours where like family to you and the kids where like siblings to you every one helped out. If you ever wanted to know where we where just stand quietly and listen you'll suddenly hear the sound of children's voices echo throughout the streets. We where like a pack of wild animals we ran with the pack and stayed with them. Too bad your world's not like that anymore. We had too many distractions in this world and children are getting lazier and lazier.

People

They can surprise you when you least expect it. Like going into a building and someone reaches out and opens it for you. Or when the bus driver waits for you when he/she sees you coming. I also like it when people give other people a chance to get to know them before judging them. I like also giving someone a voice that doesn't have one. People come in all different packages and each one's a surprise. There are so many things I can say about people but I don't want to drone on.
